All ad agencies use timesheets, it’s how they determine client profitability and resource requirements. Problem is filling in timesheets sits somewhere between watching paint dry or the grass grow in terms of excitement! That is unless you unlock a fridge full of free beer once all staff have completed them! Great use of technology by JWT…although I dd notice an unguarded shelf of Vodka!
With a headline more likely to appear in The Sun than on ADZAG junior creative team Grinter + Spencer have done the unthinkable in their search for a job, they played with Creative Directors egos! The dynamic duo bought up the .com domain names of all the best CD’s based out of Melbourne and then held them to ransom! In exchange for the safe return of each CD’s domain all they had to do was agree to an interview. For those that didn’t want to play ball, well they had been warned!
As the agency Christmas cards start to roll out their respective shop doors some will be seen as innovative others will fall by the wayside. After all its a competitive game and only the strong will survive! This example from Wieden + Kennedy London called ‘A Choir of You‘ lets anyone that passes by their Hanbury Street office to play along. Simply stand infront of the camera, sing along and as you sing louder your choir grows in size sharing more magnificent festive tunes!
I work at an agency, many of the people that read my blog ramblings work at agencies, and that’s why if they are anything like me they will find themselves nodding, smiling and mentally agreeing with much of the following info-graphic, The Anatomy Of An Agency!

So much (really everything) has changed since the so called golden age of advertising in the 60′s including the not so humble advertising executive! The tools, the tech, the fashion the channels of communication, all radically different, so much so that it seemed appropriate to pull together a little infographic to highlight the disparities!
Be on the look out for the current ad exec iteration, known as the social butterfly. They are generally armed with Apple everything, iPhone, iPad, iMac, iBalls and are a muggers delight!
While meandering through the Saatchi’s Stockholm website yesterday I stumbled upon one of those ideas that is so simple and obvious that you can’t believe no ones thought of it before (maybe they did, I haven’t done a ton of research*). Introducing the first out of office ad placement! That’s right, ads placed in those emails you automatically send telling people you aren’t around when they want you for something!
