I’m pretty sure the next 4 weeks will be dominated by Christmas campaigns and 2011 review videos like this one from Bing. Curiously they released this in November insinuating that Bing or Microsoft as a whole don’t recognise the month of December! The video covers the most searched terms that have shaped the last year from the devastating Tsunami that shook Japan to the sad passing of Steve Jobs. It’s both a reminder of the breakthrough and heartbreaks that we have all experience in 2011 and a springboard to a fresh start in 2012.
With the social networking wars in full effect the last major digital battleground, search, has taken a bit of a back seat recently. However while the media has been looking elsewhere the competition has certainly been heating up. Bing, the search engine that everyone loves to a) hate, b) dismiss, has been making steady progress in the US, nibbling away at Google in the most annoying of fashion.
