This is just plain weird, so weird and ever so slightly wonderful that I had to post. There seems to be a dispute in the US between cable provider DISH and the AMC network. Apparently DISH has dropped some AMC channels to make a point in an unrelated lawsuit. Channels that carry awesome shows such as Mad Men, Breaking Bad and the fabulous The Walking Dead. To raise awareness of the issue AMC sent zombies out on the streets of NYC. Some of these reactions are priceless!
If this doesn’t shock parents and kids into taking beach safety a little more seriously then nothing will. Ad agency taxi crafted this disturbing and confronting sand sculpture on Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver to raise awareness of water safety. As you can see by the video there are a few freaked out faces looking on, do you think it worked?
This is a great idea by Eva, Rickard and Michal, a creative team from the Berghs School of Communication. Produced to raise awareness of the hidden cruelty in horse racing Death Bet takes a confronting look at the race industry and turns once of the sports biggest attractions (betting) into a distressing message.
Love this idea from Levissima, it’s a simple drag and drop button (onto your bookmark bar) that transforms any webpage into a sparkling oasis of natural beauty, much like the glacial wonders that pour out of a bottle of Lavissima. Props go to Lowe Pirella Fronzoni, nice work.
Introducing the ‘Delite-o-matic’ vending machine. A challenge powered treat dispensing box of joy. Anyone can play along, all you need to do is complete a ridiculous task such as hitting a big red button 5,000 times or dancing a little jig and then, hey presto, you receive a little pack of snacks! Personally I couldn’t think of anything worse, public and then virtual embarrassment (276,000 view and counting) and all for a few flavoured biscuits. But thats the cynic in me, its pretty clear that people will literally do anything for food!
In 1996 digital display advertising had a click through rate of 7%, today you’re lucky if you get 0.1%. Put another way 99.9% of consumers don’t want anything to do with your advertising! It no surprise since the average online surfer (do people still say surfer!) receives 25 times more messages every year than they did 15 years ago. Check out the following infographic for more disturbing display media facts.
Who remembers Hot Wheels growing up? Who remembers sending the little matchbox cars down their respective ramps and watching them speed around the loop-da-loop? Who remembers laughing uncontrollably as they crashed and flipped along the floor before hitting the family cat? Just me? Oh dear. Regardless check out this amazing stunt with real cars, real loops and real cats! (I’m joking about the cats)
…kinda…To celebrate UNIQLO’s dry mesh project the fashion retailer and their agency, Firstborn NewYork, synchronized a team of people to hijack popular categorized on Pinterest by sequentially posting images that together created an innovative scrolling mosaic. No idea what I’m on about? Just watch below.
As the trend toward high tech vending machines continues to gain pace Coca Cola have upped the bar considerably. This is a great campaign that ties mobile, vending machine and content together to create a personal ‘Share a Coke’ experience but with global scale. Participants can share a can of Coke through an international network of vending machines, send messages and receive thank you’s from people they have never met in places they have never been.
This is a great little idea from Bradesco Seguro Insurance out of Bazil. Using the standard swipe gesture readers of the iPad auto magazine unwittingly smashed the ads car into the bezel of their tablet! Simple and highly effective, this for me demonstrates the unrealized power of tablet advertising.
