I had to share this since its simplicity and public impact just blew me away. Miami Ad School student Bennett Austin placed a bed in a parking space on Haight St in San Francisco to raise awareness of a local homeless youth shelter that lost 1/3 of its funding. Apparently a recent law was passed in SF called the ‘Sit & Lie’ law which prevents anyone from sitting or lying on the street for more than 3 minutes. By placing his bed in a paid parking space he was able to legally circumvent the Sit & Lie law and turn the $108 he needed to keep the meter running into national media coverage and $43,000 in donations.
