A great campaign by Bell, a telco out of Canada, that looks to position the network as the mobile gateway to social interaction. Using a selection of an individuals Facebook status updates and tweets the web application creates what is essentially a wordle self portrait! On its own its a nice idea but Bell have taken it one step further with their Social Portrait gallery, a feature which rewards the most popular portraits by using them in Bells outdoor advertising campaign!

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the largest bank down under has jumped into the deep-end of the mobile wallet wars with their recently announced mobile application called Kaching…as in ka-ching! In addition to being NFC enabled, Kaching also allows payment between friends via Facebook, email and mobile number.
eBay Opens QR Code Powered Store Front In New York
Whats that you say? Browsing eBay online is too easy and you wished they made it more complicated and confined it to a single store in New York? Well its your lucky day because thats exactly what they’ve done with the eBay ‘Inspiration Room’ concept store. Located in New York any passer-by can stop, scan the QR code (with their mobile phone) of any item they have taken a liking to and be taken to a purchasing page with more information! Sarcasm aside, the idea does have merit, but in my opinion its real niche is for existing physical retailers to offer a more stress-free and streamlined purchase process. The opposite transition from virtual to bricks and mortar store doesn’t seem to add any value to the shopping experience.
