KLM launches twitter presence with human tweeters!

A brand launching a customer service capability on twitter or Facebook really isn’t news, but launching your real time offering with a slower, clunky, human version is!  Enter KLM!  To celebrate their twitter profile going live they started answering customers questions by filming human tweeters!  Basically 140 KLM staff members would each grab a letter, run onto a big white canvas, order themselves to form the questions answer, hold the letters above their head, and voila!  Human twitter!  The purpose of the campaign was to illustrate how personal their service still is on twitter/Facebook.  Did they achieve that?  Judge for yourself.

The anti photo photo-booth from Schwarzkopf

There seems to be an undiscovered connection between free photo-booths and a women.  If you’ve ever attended one of my companies annual parties the female half of the agency tend to spend more of their evening queuing to have their photo taken then they do eating, drinking or carving up the dance floor!  Got2b, a hair care brand from Schwarzkopf clearly recognised this invisible addiction with the release of these free photobooths with a twist!  Just before the photos were about to be taken powerful fans kicked in messing everyone’s hair up before branded ‘this would never have happened if you had used got2b glue!’ photos were produced.  What’s even nicer though is the photos were streamed live to online banners, uploaded to Facebook and Twitter and even used in select outdoor collateral.

London landmark turned into a lightsaber!

Every once in a while there is an idea that makes me scream at my computer for being so awesome!  This is one.  To celebrate the release of the Star Wars anthology on blue-ray some smart cats turned the famous British Telecom Tower in the heart of London into a gigantic lightsaber!  The imagery is breath-taking and the impact a change to the London skyline like this would have would be immense.  Plus the word of mouth generated would be almost immeasurable.  Unreal.  I’m still screaming at my computer!  I love it!

Carlsberg punks cinema goers with a gang of bikers!

I love it when brands make people feel awkward!  The video footage just feels a little more raw than a scripted TV show.  Enter Carlsberg, who recently filled a cinema showing Planet of the Apes with hundreds of stereotypical bikers.  Big, tattooed and carrying aggressive facial expressions!  Every seat was taken, apart from 2 in the middle.  You can kinda guess the rest, unsuspecting couples were ushered into the cinema and their reactions filmed for our enjoyment!

Super charge your social media career

‘Your country needs you!’  I’m pretty sure that was the line on many of the early World War II recruitment posters, if not is must have been ‘Want Action?’.  People are rushing toward another movement right now, and that seems to be a career in social media.  To help future stars make their mark, Voltier Creative have put together a little infographic highlighting some of the pre-requisites and/or considerations any social strategist should be aware of.

A big week in the world of social media with Google+ moving to Beta and the Facebook F8 Developer conference announcing a raft of platform updates, but that hasn’t stopped the communication industry delivering a few advertising gems.  Also the ADZAG Facebook page is slowly growing, please like us here if you haven’t already! Right, here’s our round-up of the best of the week incase you missed anything;

What do Britney Spears and Michael Jackson have in common?

Pepsi of course!  Pepsi has a long standing relationship with music and to remind people of that very fact they’ve released this inspiring piece of content featuring Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Mariah Carey and the legend Ray Charles.  The content seems to allude to a big announcement or in my mind a great opportunity to crowd source the next face of cola (That’s my IP now Pepsi!) but beyond that the film really only reminded me that Michael Jackson was awesome, Britney was once hot, Mariah Carey is still wacky and that I just don’t like Kanye West!

What if Google Streetview were powered by you & Hertz?

Photographing every street in the world is a pretty big task!  It takes thousands of cars and millions of man hours to do.  Who would be stupid enough to sign up to a gig like that!?  Google of course, and they have been doing an exceptional job with their Streetview product.  The problem is that our urban & suburban street-scape is changing at a pretty rapid rate which leaves some of the imagery out of date.  So whats the solution?  Two Miami Ad School graduates have a great idea (Albert Calsina & Shari Bremer).  How about a collaboration between Google, Hertz and you?  Each Hertz car is installed with Google cameras and when its rented and on the roads it takes snaps of locations that need updating.  These are sent to Google HQ and the lucky driver is rewarded for their assistance!
